In order to respect the new airport security requirements, Perpignan airport, like other European airports, committed a process of conversion of its safety certificate National in European certificate.

This certification demonstrates compliance with the new security requirements defined by the European Commission and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). These new requirements apply to the organization and operation of aeronautical infrastructures and give the airport operator the role of "conductor" of platform safety.

This Friday, March 24, 2017, Mr Philippe AYOUN, Director of Civil Aviation Safety South handed the certificate to Mr Denis LELUC, Director of the airport.

"This certificate marks the culmination of more than a year and a half of studies and safety assessments at the airport. It also marks the beginning of a new era for our management system"- Denis LELUC, Director of the airport.

Perpignan Airport is the 19th French airport on 57 to receive the certificate. Other airports have until the end of 2017 to comply.
